Rehoboth Select Board Promotes Graves to Fire Chief, Restructures Department Leadership

REHOBOTH — April 27, 2026 — Rehoboth Select Board unanimously promoted Peter Graves to fire chief and brought back former chief Frank Barresi as a consultant to steady the department through June 30. Select Board member Rob Johnson, who led the search process after an unexpected vacancy the prior week, said he met with three internal candidates — Graves, Captain Dustin Carey, and Deputy Kenny Macio — before recommending Graves, who was serving as captain of North Station. Graves was simultaneously appointed forest fire warden. Speaking after his swearing-in, Graves announced a three-deputy structure: Dustin Carey overseeing operations, Deputy Marco handling EMS and safety, and Deputy McGann managing truck maintenance. Graves also announced the retirement of 26-year veteran Assistant Chief Scott Wentworth. The board also reorganized PFAS remediation articles in the upcoming town warrant, grouping three related articles together, and began planning for a state-mandated consolidated solar permitting process with an October 1, 2026 compliance deadline.
