Rehoboth Select Board Approves $651,845 Chapter 90 Road Program

Rehoboth Select Board banks a $361,000 storm refund and tables a land-rights call on Agricultural Avenue. The board voted unanimously to table its right of first refusal on a 154 Agricultural Avenue subdivision until its August 31 meeting, after members noted the town's Community Preservation Committee, which holds less than $1 million against the property's roughly $1.6 million price, had not yet voted on its own possible purchase. Staff reported the state approved a $361,000 reimbursement for snowstorm road damage, money that will boost the town's free cash.
The board also approved a $651,845.52 Chapter 90 paving project covering five streets, accepted a $49,367.93 Comcast franchise fee, and heard that a developer will contribute close to $200,000 to town road and fire needs in exchange for Planning Board policy waivers. "We can't force them to do it, but we don't have to waive things either," one member said of the arrangement.
