Rehoboth Board of Selectmen Approves $2M in State Road Funds, Crypto ATM Ban Article

REHOBOTH -- April 21, 2026, Rehoboth Board of Selectmen approves more than $2 million in state road funds and moves to ban crypto ATMs at town meeting. The board voted unanimously Tuesday to approve two separate Chapter 90 state reimbursement packages, Project 26-03 for $1,416,129.76 and a second package covering four prior projects totaling $584,989.04, with Selectman Lenny Fadney crediting the town clerk's office and the Highway Department for getting previously unlisted roads onto the state's eligible inventory. The board also voted to place a warrant article before town meeting that would prohibit unregulated cryptocurrency ATMs in Rehoboth, citing consumer fraud risks and vulnerability of the town's senior population; the advisory originated from the town's legal office. A $12,950 contract with Serped for an open space and recreation plan update was approved, with $7,000 due immediately and the balance drawn from conservation funds. A stalled enforcement case at 21 Winter Street, where daily $50 fines have gone uncollected since at least September 2025, remained unresolved, with Town Council Kate Fedoroff drafting a Board of Health regulation intended to give the town stronger enforcement authority without requiring a town meeting vote.
