Rehoboth Select Board Places $1.6 Million Override Question on July 15 Ballot

REHOBOTH — June 9, 2014 — Rehoboth Select Board sets $1.66 million override ballot question for July 15 and calls a June 30 special town meeting. The board voted unanimously Monday to place a Proposition 2½ override question — asking voters to authorize an additional $1,658,740 in property taxes for fiscal year 2015 general operations — on the July 15 ballot, with absentee ballots available within one week. The board also voted to call a June 30 special town meeting and amended Article 1 of its warrant from a 60-day to a 90-day interim appropriation, a move Town Administrator Jeff Ritter said is necessary to prevent a governmental shutdown on July 1 while the override outcome is pending. Voter registration closes June 25. Community group DR Parents United, represented by Tiffany Bartholomew, announced three public question-and-answer forums on the override beginning June 17 at Palmer River School, with Sean Cain moderating.
