Rehoboth Conservation Commission Orders Old Calvigo Club to Remove Unpermitted Bridge

REHOBOTH — June 3, 2014 — Rehoboth Conservation Commission orders the Old Calvigo Club to remove an unpermitted wetland bridge by June 15 or face enforcement. The commission spent most of its June 3 meeting confronting club representatives over a timber crossing installed without a filing under the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act, 310 CMR 10.00, and over tree cutting within the 100-foot wetland buffer zone. Vice Chairman Dave, also an executive board member of the Rehoboth Land Trust, led the questioning, telling club members that contact must now run exclusively through conservation agent Leanne Bradley and that no further site work may occur without prior written approval. The commission separately closed the public hearing for the Compadres restaurant project, represented by engineer Eric Dias of Tunis and Dias Incorporated, voting to issue orders and conditions after the Board of Health approved the project's variance requests. The commission also declined unanimously to exercise its Chapter 61B right of first refusal on a single house lot on Moulton Street, citing a lack of acquisition funds.
