Dighton-Rehoboth School Committee Expands School Choice, Approves $11,600 in Donations

REHOBOTH -- May 26, 2026, Dighton-Rehoboth School Committee unanimously expanded high school school choice slots from 25 to 30 and approved more than $11,600 in donations at its May 26 meeting. Superintendent William Rooney cited the district's new early college partnership with Bridgewater State University and expanded CTE programming, including culinary, criminal justice, and medical assisting, as justification for the school choice increase, noting 15 of the current 30 students intend to return. Treasurer Renee Morby reported district grant revenue is up $1.8 million over fiscal year 2025, with even the non-CTE portion representing a nearly 50 percent year-over-year gain. Business Administrator Leo Brehm noted the district is operating with less than 1 percent of its budget unencumbered. The committee also approved a facilities use request granting parking and in-kind water access to Dighton's 250th Anniversary Committee for a September colonial reenactment, and accepted an $8,000 in-kind culinary equipment donation from Highland Restaurant Supply secured by Whitson's Culinary Group liaison Colleen Pace.
